This blog is to keep a record of how our plans to create a small cut flower business develop. From experiments, selling small plants and bunches of flowers from the garden at a farmers market stall, the aim now is to learn how to grow lovely flowers on a slightly bigger scale and in a more planned way.

I will have to see if I can change my usual, haphazard approach into something more organised and fruitful on a small piece of ground loaned to me by generous friends. Luckily, I have my RHS trained  farmers’ market partner and friend to help me think less randomly.

Here is the starting point – a small plot in Oxfordshire to be developed into a cut flower patch. In August 2014 it has weeds and grass and clay rich soil. 437   It also has deer and rabbits and chickens …
