All Summer I have been collecting bundles of flowers and foliage from the plot (and my garden) to dry. Now that fresh flower deliveries are over until Spring, I have a small window to get to my stash of everlastings and to make dried wreaths before I start on the fresh, festive ones. It is one of my favourite things to do when (as now) it is raining outside with a battering wind and darkness is coming early and there is time to focus on the glowing brights of the helichrysums and the blue globes of echinops ritro – two among many dried lovelies. Soon it will be berries and crab apples!
All my everlasting wreaths are made from generous handfuls of garden gathered flowers, foliage and grasses. Grown using an organic approach and dried naturally, my flowers have as light an environmental footprint as possible. Each wreath is individual and made on a moss and wire base (either 10 or 12 inches) to which I add layers and layers of beautiful everlastings.
If kept out of bright sunlight in a dry place, my wreaths will last for years and keep their bright loveliness.
As dried flowers can be fragile, each wreath is wrapped very carefully for delivery which is free within 6 miles of Oxford. Wreaths can be packed and posted further afield. It is also possible to request a bespoke wreath in a different size and with a different colour palette. Not a hard sale pitch, but be aware that the number of wreaths available will be quite limited as each wreath takes a lot of material and time to make.
Fresh Wreaths (can be pre-ordered)
These will be available from the end of November and can be pre-ordered for delivery or for pick up at either Sofacoma or Wolvercote community markets from November 28th. Wreaths can also be sent by post if you don’t live locally. More examples to come in a few days on the Fresh Wreath page where there will also be information about DIY Wreath Kits.
