Everything in the garden has sprung into life over the few last weeks which means that there will be a good number of healthy plants to choose from at tomorrow’s Sofacoma Market, including a range of hardy perennials and hardy and half hardy annuals. All have been grown locally by me from seed, cuttings or division and are ready to be planted out. The varieties are chosen for their loveliness, reliability and their attractiveness to pollinators; all are grown in peat free compost using an organic approach.
There will also be bunches, pickle pots & jam jars of locally grown flowers.

Plants
The perennials have been over wintered outside in pots or a nursery bed and are tough and ready to be planted out as long as the ground isn’t frozen. They are magnets for pollinating insects and will return bigger and better each year.
This week there will be geums, verbena bonariensis, daisies (Erigeron karvaniensis) and eryngium planum in a range of sizes among others.

Perennial Prices: £3.50 a 9cm pot; £4.00 a 1 litre pot; £6.50 a 2 litre pot & £7.50 for 3 litres
The hardy and half hardy annuals have been grown from seed and are completely hardened off and are ready to plant out, though you might want to protect the antirrhinums from very low night time temperatures.

Sweetpeas have been grown from seed collected from last year’s plants – a range of colours and varieties which were all chosen for their excellent scent. £1.75 a 9cm pot with 3 seedlings.
Cerinthe major: a magnet for pollinators and a reliable self seeder which can tolerate most conditions. Unusual and very attractive. £2.00 a 9 cm pot.
Antirrhinums in a range of colours including Butterfly Bronze pictured above: £ 2.00 a 9cm pot.
Next week’s market is at Wolvercote Community Market at the White Hart Pub: 26th April
